• The Gradebook Stack is a Hypercard stack designed to help college teachers keep grades. It has lots of features to make entering grades and tracking absences as painless as possible.

Distribution rights: You may pass on the Gradebook Stack to friends or BBS's as long as the software and documentation are not altered, and all files are included. You may not sell the program, nor may you charge for copying. Contact the author regarding other means of distribution, like CD ROM.

**** What's new in V1.7 1/28/94
• fixed sorting problem on "Print by SSN" option on print card. Wouldn't sort if non-numerical data was present
• fixed SSN showing over help screen on student cards
• fixed processing problem when making new entry: would not process blank values for entries with points
• Added "Large Class" support:
- import the roster from a text file (see roster help)
- shift-click "-" button to delete all students at once
- import scores from a text file (seenew entry help)
- search by name or ID to find a student record from roster or student record areas
- max number of students increased to 432 (that's 9 screens of 48 students each)
• added memory checking routines at openstack and doPrompt
doPrompt will not execute if memory < 100

**** What's new in Ver. 1.6 Dec 21, 1993
• Making a new Entry: Added "return here after posting scores" option. User can make several entries in a row -- averages are recalculated after all entries have been made. Should save time if you tend to make many entries at once.
• Making a new Entry: Added two new scores: "AX" and "AM" -- same as the X and M scores, but the student is marked absent as well. Might be an easier way to mark absences if you give daily homework or participation grades.
• Making a new Entry: The default point value for an entry (if it takes points) now = point value for last entry (that used points). More convenient if you make lots of entries with the same point value.
• Student Record: Now includes a space for keeping a student's SSN (or other ID number). This information can be entered when putting students on the roster.
• Student Record: Absent dates are kept in chronological order.
• Roster card -- Marking Absent: Entry of the absent date improved. Gives the day of the week, and buttons to go to the next or previous day. Useful if you can't remember the date, but do remember the day of the week.
• Printing: Option for printing list of names was removed. You can print a roster by choosing "Print Field" from the "File" menu while at the Roster card. You can also copy the roster to the clipboard, and format the list using your word processor program.
• Printing: Added option to print by sorted SSN. This is useful at the end of the semester if you want to post final grades. List shows student's last 4 digits of their SSN and final average, sorted by the SSN so students are no longer in alphabetical order. You can also copy this list to the clipboard, and format the list with your word processor program.
• Printing: reorganized the printing options into three groups: Paper Backup, Average Lists, and Reports. Added fields which show the last date each group was used. To help you remember the last time you printed something.
• Entries card: Added an exporting option. You can export grades to the clipboard or to a text file. You can paste the scores into your word processing program, and format reports as you like.
• Entrance screen: Eliminated one click at the startup card. Now goes directly to card you specified at the stack info card.
• Shareware: Added a register button to the stack info card. Registered users can type in a code which will allow them to personalize the stack, and suppress the credits screen (one less click at startup), and suppress shareware reminders.
• Shareware: Added a shareware reminder. 15 days after entries have been made, user will be reminded to send in shareware fee. Registered users (and Hypercard programmers) can suppress this.

• fixed a bug in the "complete student report" option on the print card.
• fixed the "Table Template" report format for stylewriters and laserwriters. Replaced by "table template II"
• Fixed a bug on the "entries" card. Can no longer edit empty lines.

**** version 1.4 notes Aug 30, 1993
• spaces used on the grading prefs card were treated as zeros - this "feature" has been eliminated. You have to use numbers, or blanks.
• you may assign students grades of "M" (missing). "M" scores will show up a student's missing scores list, and count as zeros for averaging purposes.
-- this was the "X" score in v1.3
• you may also assign grades of "X". These scores will not show up on the student's missing score list, and will not be considered in averages.
**** version 1.3 notes July 29, 1993
• You need Hypercard 2.0 or later to run the stack. The "Hypercard Player" included with most Macs is all you need.
• If you have an earlier version of HC, many universities and schools have a site license - check with your computer office.
• Hypercard 2.0 requires at least 2 MB RAM - you probably won't be able to run this stack on a Mac plus unless you have upgraded the memory.
• The stack includes documentation to help you get started.
